Comics, Graphic Novels, Illustration, Comic-Workshops and Comic Readings

My name is Mikael Ross and I am a freelance comic artist and illustrator. I live and work in Berlin. Drawing and telling comic stories is my great passion and has fascinated me since childhood. This enthusiasm has continued to grow and over the last ten years I have turned this passion into my profession. Since then, I have published five graphic novels, which have been translated into up to ten languages.

Books: der verkehrte Himmel, Golden Boy, The Thud, Totem, Lauter Leben.

Visual Storytelling

It's exciting to learn how versatile the medium of comics can be. Any story can be told through the means of graphic visualization - whether it's a medical comic for patient education, a comic to go with an exhibition, or as part of the program for a festival. A comic can convey complex and ambiguous content in particular, where other mediums might lack its depth and immersion. Finding a fresh creative touch for each project is important to me, and I put close collaboration between all parties at the core of any successful release.

Illustration

Looking for an illustrator? Have an illustration created for you! In a short briefing, we will work together to find out exactly what your ideas and wishes are. Shortly afterwards, you will receive a selection of drafts and you can choose the design that suits you best. Unlike AI-generated designs, you can use my illustrations for all business purposes without hesitation, because I guarantee the rights of use in accordance with German law.

Comic/ Manga Workshops

Children in particular have a keen interest in comics and manga. In my comic and manga workshops, I am often amazed by how diligent and enthusiastic children and teenagers are when working on their own comic pages. I draw my experience from teaching Comics for 10 years now. i conduct workshops in schools, libraries, literary centers, and universities. I can offer a varied program for all ages and levels of expertise. Workshop languages are English, German, and French.

Comic readings

A comic book reading basically works the same way as a literary reading. The only difference is that the comic panels are projected using a projector or smartboard to accompany the author's voice. This creates an imersive audiovisual live-format. I offer comic book readings for adults as well as for young people, and I am also happy to visit schools. A reading lasts around 50-60 minutes in total and is held in German.
